On Thursday, July 13th a handful of pro and expert level wake surfers will teach local teens to wake surf on Lake Tye! Blusurf, Lynnwood Motoplex, Supreme Boats, the INT League, Subway, and YMCA of Monroe have partnered to #PassTheHandle for “Discover Watersports Day”! #PassTheHandle is a Watersports Industry Association program designed to introduce new people to watersports. Many of the kids who participate in #PassTheHandle would likely never have the chance to learn to wakesurf or experience being on the water in a Supreme S238 towboat.
The NW Wake Surf Open was one of the first major competitions for wake surfing in the United States. Historically, the competition has drawn local, national and international athletes during its tenure. This history is sure to repeat with the Supreme Boats partnership as the Supreme Wake Surfing Championship. This year, the competition is hosted by the INT League whose focus is on hosting events that grow and develop watersports across the country.

Wake surfing is a water sport in which a rider trails behind a boat, riding the boat’s wake without being directly pulled by the boat. After getting up on the wake, typically by use of a tow rope, the wake surfers will drop the rope, and ride the steep face below the wave’s peak in a fashion reminiscent of surfing.
This event is supported by Supreme Boats, Rock Star, Blu Surf, Northwest Riders, Phase 5, Lynnwood Motoplex, MasterCraft Seattle, NW Inboards, Seattle Watersports, Bjornson Marine, Sandbar Marine, Wiley’s Watersports, and the Monroe Chamber of Commerce.
